Character Name: Asriel Dreemurr
Series: Undertale
Timeline: Post pacifist ending, right before Asriel turns into Flowey
Canon Resource Link: Here.
Character History:
Asriel is the former prince of the Underground, born to Toriel and Asgore after the war between humans and monsters. Despite all of monsterkind being sealed under a mountain by humans, Asriel grew up in a warm and loving home, living a somewhat lonely life of being an only child.
At least, until a human child fell into the Underground several years later. Asriel discovered them, and took them back to his parents. The human, Chara, was adopted by the royal family and Asriel quickly accepted Chara as his new sibling.
For a while, life seemed simple for the Dreemurr family. Chara and Asriel played together, and the monster kingdom saw Chara as their only hope of one day escaping their prison. There were some occasional tense moments between the Dreemurrs, such as when Asriel and Chara baked Asgore a pie and accidentally used poisonous flowers as ingredients. But otherwise, they were a fairly happy family.
While Asriel was videotaping Chara one day, Chara tells Asriel to turn off the camera. They reveal a plan to free all of monsterkind, but at a cost: Chara's life. If Chara were to die, Asriel could absorb their SOUL, become powerful enough to cross the barrier, and gather enough human SOULs needed to break the barrier keeping monsters trapped underground. Asriel's very reluctant to do it, but is persuaded to go along with the plan. Chara uses poisonous flowers to make themselves ill, and eventually it takes their life. Asriel absorbs their SOUL, and takes his sibling's body to the surface.
Upon reaching the surface, humans from a nearby village see Asriel holding Chara's body. Assuming that Asriel killed them, they attack Asriel and fatally wound him. Asriel doesn't fight back, instead returning to the Underground before turning to dust in his parents' garden.
Asgore declares war on humanity, and Alphys goes to work as a royal scientist. She experiments with Determination, a power that exists only in humans. After extracting Determination from the human SOULs that Asgore collected, she tries injecting a single golden flower in Asgore's garden to give it life. A flower that was covered in Asriel's dust when he died.
Asriel returns to life, but as a flower. He panics as he can't feel his arms and legs. His SOUL is gone as well, shattered after his death. And without his SOUL, Asriel is unable to feel any kind of love or compassion for others.
Asriel tries to reunite with his parents, but quickly becomes unhappy when he realizes that he doesn't feel anything for them. Unable to care for anyone and with Chara gone for good, Asriel tries to take his own life. But as he tries, he suddenly becomes afraid of what will happen to something that doesn't have a SOUL. Suddenly desperate to live, Asriel wakes up back in the garden.
Discovering his newfound powers of Determination, and the ability to reset timelines through "SAVE"s and "RESET"s, Asriel began to experiment with his new power. He used it to solve every problem he could, get difference reactions out of his fellow monsters, and basically do everything he possibly could do in the Underground. He even resorted to killing everyone, before resetting the timeline back to the beginning and doing it all over again. But even with his new power, it still wasn't enough to satisfy Asriel. He soon grew bored of doing the same things over and over.
At least until another human fell, and things finally got interesting.
Upon meeting Frisk after they fall, Asriel introduces himself as "Flowey" and gives Frisk a seemingly friendly tutorial of how the Underground works. He offers to share some "LOVE" with Frisk, by giving them "friendless pellets". It turns out to be a trick, as Flowey attempts to get Frisk to run directly into his attack. Toriel intervenes, using fire magic to knock Flowey away and save Frisk before he kills them.
Frisk meets Flowey again after they get past Toriel. He taunts Frisk and their moral choices, telling them that this world is "kill or be killed". If Frisk chooses not to kill anyone, Flowey will question how long they can continue down that path. If Frisk kills Toriel and resets, Flowey will call them out on it, as well as recognize that Frisk has the same power that he does. At that point, he'll notice that Frisk's power overrides his to the point where he can't "SAVE" or "RESET" anymore. Finding Frisk interesting, Flowey chooses to be an observer as Frisk continues their journey through the Underground. He follows them, occasionally leaving little taunts here and there, such as telling an echo flower that Toriel will replace Frisk with another child.
Flowey doesn't appear again until Frisk spares Asgore in their final battle. As Asgore and Frisk talk, Flowey kills him and steals the six human SOULs being held by Asgore. Absorbing the SOULs, Flowey turns into Omega Flowey and uses his new powers to trap Frisk in a strange, black void. Asriel and Frisk fight, but Flowey is defeated when the six SOULs he absorbed turn against him to help Frisk. He loses his powers, reduced to a torn-up little flower at Frisk's mercy.
If Frisk chooses to spare Flowey, he will get confused by Frisk's decision and run away. He appears later on, questioning Frisk's kindness before offering some advice to Frisk on how they can get a better ending for everyone.
After Frisk follows Flowey's advice and resets, Flowey shows up again as Frisk's friends interrupt their battle with Asgore. Flowey takes all of them hostage and this time, he absorbs the SOULs of the six humans along with every monster in the Underground.
After absorbing all of these SOULs, Flowey is restored to the childlike form of Asriel. He greets Frisk briefly, before transforming into the God of Hyperdeath: a powerful, almost godlike being. Frisk fights him again, and Asriel reveals that he plans to gain control of the timeline and reset everything, keeping Frisk trapped forever. Asriel uses his form's full power to try to wipe Frisk out for good, but Frisk hangs on with Determination and attempts to save both their friends and Asriel. Asriel pleads with Frisk, telling them that the reason he doesn't want them to win is because they'll leave him.
But eventually, Asriel is defeated. He reverts back to his childlike self, apologizing to Frisk for all the horrible things he's done. Asriel finally accepts that Frisk isn't the first fallen human and his sibling, despite the two of them sharing the same appearance. Asriel asks Frisk's real name, and tries to make amends by using the SOULs he absorbed to break the barrier and free all monsters. He says his farewell to Frisk, knowing that without any of the SOULs, he'll soon return to being Flowey.
Frisk can meet Asriel one last time in the Ruins, tending to the flowers near Toriel's home. Asriel tells Frisk that he can't go with them. He then explains that Chara hated humanity, and that when Asriel absorbed Chara's SOUL, they were the one that tried to use their power against the humans on the surface. After Asriel died, he adopted the philosophy of "kill or be killed". He admits to Frisk that he no longer regrets the decision to not fight back against the humans, and seems to have made peace with what happened. He chooses to stay in the Ruins before he turns back into Flowey, leaving Frisk to go to the surface with the other monsters.

Abilities/Special Powers: Asriel has the same ability that all monsters do, which is being able to absorb a human soul after that human dies. Doing so gives a monster immense power. He's also capable of fire magic, just like his parents. Unlike his parents, he wouldn't have a lot of experience or skill using it since he's a very young boss monster.
As Flowey, Asriel has the ability to "SAVE" and "RESET" thanks to the Determination that was injected into him. Meaning that he can establish a "save point" and return to it any time he wishes, erasing anything he's done up to that point. This power was overridden by Frisk having greater Determination than him.
Third-Person Sample: Asriel is here again. While he should be grateful that Wonderland didn't sentence him to life as a flower, he's still bitter over being left behind by the rest of his family. Not mad at them, of course, but mad at Wonderland for sending them all away. He remembers like it happened yesterday. Heck, it felt like it was yesterday. All those painful feelings of grief feel like they're bubbling up all over again. He was here alone, as far as he knew. The last thing he remembered was the monsters and humans from his world, disappearing one by one. And out of all of them... Wonderland decided it wanted him back?
What's the point of him being here anyway? His family was supposed to have a nice life in Wonderland. Chara was alive, Frisk was with them, his mom, taking care of them both... and Asriel was supposed to be just a memory. Something his family could move on and heal from, his family that he could never try and hurt again. And then this place had to go and mess all of that up by bringing him into the picture - not once, but apparently twice! And he doesn't even remember those!
Ughhh, if he had vines he'd tear the place apart. He knows he shouldn't think like that. Those are Flowey thoughts, but he can't help but feel the strongest desire to destroy something. He settles for the lamp next to his bed, grabbing it and hurling it across the room. It lands with a thud - not even giving Asriel the satisfaction of breaking. Not like it makes him feel any better. He has no control, no way of bringing Chara back, no RESETs or SAVEs. Nothing.
Just a sad, tired goat monster who shouldn't even exist.
He wraps his arms around himself, and lets out a sniffle.
First-Person Sample:
[Asriel looks over his phone, trying to make sense of what's been going on since the last time he was here. He should probably ask. At the very least, figure out who from his world is still here - if anyone.
People would see right through him if he tried to be all sweet and friendly. He wasn't too happy when he left the first time, right? He's still not happy.]
Can someone fill me in on what I've missed? I think... I've been gone for a really long time now.
Eway return: Asriel will retain his memories.
Lost memory: Asriel will forget Chara knitting a sweater for Asgore.
